Can I power a 9.8V RC reciever with an 11.1V battery pack?
I will have the battery hooked to the receiver through an ESC, but will it still be too much voltage for the receiver to handle?
The receiver is a Spektrum AR-500.
You don’t have a 9.8V receiver. The AR-500 requires a supply voltage of 3.5 to 9.6 volts. However, depending on your setup you will need 4.8V-6V going to the receiver because otherwise, you’ll burn out your servo(s).
If your ESC has a battery eliminator, it will put out some voltage around 5 or 6 volts that you can use to run your receiver. If your ESC has no battery eliminator, you need a separate battery eliminator or regulator.
